My Camino Journey
¨When you desire something with all your heart, the whole universe conspires to help¨ -Paulo Coelho
The lesson of the day. Each day walking so far has been filled with wonders big and small. Today I left Puente la Reina and walked through Maneru, which had one of the worst up hills climbs yet. But not having put much distance in I decided to go the the next town of Cirauqui. Half way to the next town I realized my leg was getting a bit swollen and thought I really needed to find ice first thing before it gets out of control. Well wouldn’t you know it, less than 1 kilometer from Cirauqui, a pilgrim came up behind me (as tends to happen all the time given my pace). Before I can even really see who it is, a man is asking me if I need ice. Can you imagine my astonishment? The last place possible to get ice was at least 10k back! Yet he had a plastic bag full of it. Exactly what I needed and the timing was great as it saved me looking for the local market which I later found up a series of steep steep streets. I really wish I had gotten the man’s name.
I stayed in Albergue Maralotx which was quite nice. The proprietor’s husband made the pilgrims dinner which was amazing! The dinner started with a spinach soup and was served with wine made locally. Awesome good home cooked pasta and meatballs. Followed by some sort of custard dessert. Well worth the 10 euros.
I noticed the graffiti next to the yellow arrow (yellow arrows are markers for which direction to go) so I stopped and turned around and it was beautiful. The sun had just come up!
