Not too far

Yesterday was a bugger of a day so I decided to only go a short distance today and allow my body to catch up. I think it was a wise choice. So tonight I am staying in Azofra. I think I may have gotten lucky on a few levels since this albergue has rooms that are for two people. I noticed as my credentials were being stamped that she noted on her entry log I was female so I will probably have another female roommate. I can only hope for a silent sleeper. 🙂 In other news I thought I had sorted out my sim card situation by getting a different one. It needs to be refilled weekly so I tried yesterday at the atm machine but was rejected on both cards. So today I called Orange customer service only to find out their system won’t accept non Spanish cards either at atms or online. LOL ok so I am hoping today I can find someone staying here from Spain that will be kind enough to maybe charge their card and let me reimburse them with cash. *fingers crossed* If not I may have to wait a few days til I reach a bigger town. Yesterday and today as I was walking I was thinking about all the people that helped me along the way over the last eight years. I really am grateful for all I have received and would not be here today had it not been for the many. So, thank you! Today I met a man at the albergue that I had met briefly at the tourist information booth in Logrono. It was neat hearing his story. He though maybe he was going to have to end his Camino due to problems with his leg. Since he couldn’t walk it anymore he looked into getting a bike. He had been told it would probably cost him at least 1000 euros for a decent bike. Somehow he managed to to find one at the shop with the gear for 285 but his card was not working. Turned out he had exactly 285 in his pocket. Then he met a dutch man that wanted to buy a bike in Santiago to ride home. So he will ride to Santiago and then sell the bike for what he paid for it. I love hearing the stories of the road. It is constantly amazing me how things seem to work out.

There looks to be very little shade along the Camino from your photos. What are the temperatures like? Love the pictures – keep ’em coming. (Dad says “Hey” and said to let you know how proud he is of you)

It has been mid 90’s. This is why I try to start walking by around 6am so I do the majority before the heat gets out of hand.
