My Camino Journey
¨When you desire something with all your heart, the whole universe conspires to help¨ -Paulo Coelho
This morning I started in Castrojeriz and the first bit was nice and easy until I reached Alto Motelares which goes up about 250 meters in less then a kilometer. As I was going up slowly I was thinking it was the never ending ascent. Finally I reached the top of the mesa and had a bit of breakfast from some food I had brought. Then there was a short walk across the top. This is where it got hellish as I saw this sign.
This hill killed me! Horrible! Nasty mean hill! I had to walk at a snails pace all the way down. Never have I been more thankful to have two walking sticks. I don’t think I could have done it with just my cane. I literally had to take it a half step at a time while planting both sticks firmly before taking each step. Needless to say it took me about three times as long to walk a lesser distance.
Once I arrived it was nice because just as I entered the town I found a hostel with full services. I payed an extra 2€ for a room that didn’t have bunk beds. Score! About the same as a cup of coffee. Even better it had an awesome shower. Then to top everything off I only have one roommate. The little bonuses after a hard day.
Also I ran into a Camino friend that I hadn’t seen for a few days which is always nice since for the most part people end up going faster then me.

Good for you for accomplishing it.
Thanks!! It took forever! It reminded me of some of the streets in San Francisco where you can’t see over the edge
