Camino de Santiago Rocks!

The Camino de Santiago is truly a magical place. There is an energy that can’t even be described. Every day I am making new friends and meeting amazing people. So the day before yesterday I started walking mid day because I had to lay all my stuff in the sun for a few hours to finish getting rid of the bed bugs. It was quite a long day since I was walking in the heat of the day. At about 7:30 the only pilgrim I saw on the road began to pass me. As he got a few steps ahead I had an idea to try to send a message to one of my friends that I knew was ahead of me on the road. I had a feeling she was going to be at the albergue 1.6k from the end of town and after 24k I couldn’t go any farther. So I said, “Excuse me, could you do me a favor?” “If you are staying in the albergue could you pass on a message. Tell Susannah that Liza is in Cacabelos. She is blonde and shines”. Well I met her yesterday and she told me she got the message the next morning. She was sitting in a cafe and the man came right up to her and asked if her name was Susannah. Then passed on the message. We were both so amazed that the message was received. It’s nice to be able to do more distance because now I see most of the same people in each town. Before I always met people but then they would move forward on the camino. It’s quite a different experience.

    Bonjour Liza,
